Hot Cross Buns & Vodka

It's 2:30am and in waiting on the second 'proving' of my first attempt at hot cross buns. I was getting concerned that this level of domesticity meant I was losing my 'rock n roll'....but I've baked after generous consumption of vodka, and so am content that I still have an edge.
My work means that free weekends are few and far between, so this weekend has been a welcome change. Instead of hauling myself to the grindstone at 7:30, I took myself out at 10:30 to buy daffodils and visit a friend. I'm a teensy bit envious of women who get endless free days to do whatever the hell the choose, but the feeling is quickly overridden with pride and satisfaction that I make my own money and am completely self sufficient if needs be, and so time is a luxury enjoyed in a way that only a working, independent woman can! :)
I have used my hard earned pennies to purchase my current want, an eiderdown....well four actually!
Oh how I love then. Again, worrying! I'm 32...?

Project Thursday

A day off from work! Rare and needed. I was just lounging in my onesie, and the posts knocked ith my new eBay find. The household have turned their noses up at it, but I see potential!
This cute but shabby little 60's sewing box cost me all of £12.55. Whoever was selling, literally slapped a terrible coat of white paint over the nasty varnished wood (and the hinges....I HATE that), and chucked it in the post, loose screws and all.

I took it apart, cleaned the metalwork, and gave it a couple of coats of Craig & Rose 'Morris Blue'.
I kinda love it now!

I NEED an Eiderdown....NEED!

The thaw begins!! I got my tiny impractical MG stuck in a pothole that I accidentally parked in on Saturday after a 14 hour night shift, which quite frankly led to tears and my forehead dramatically resting on the steering wheel. So, I for one am pleased very muchly to see the paths and the roads again :))
To celebrate, my man and I went for lunch yesterday, leaving the girls glued to the sofa in pyjamas. We are working our way through the menu of the cutest Italian Caffe, and ate filo bites and drank Dandelion & Burdock. A rummage in the thrift shops yielded an old glass jug ready for daffodils, and then home for hibernation.
My new want is an old fluffy eiderdown for sofa dwelling, or may be to tempt the dog from sleeping on our bed and forcing me to drop off the edge around 4:30am on a regular basis. God bless The Moo

The White Stuff

So I've had this long standing love affair with snow. As soon as I've packed away my witches broom and composted the pumpkins at the start of November, I'm dreaming of a White Christmas, romanticising over huge flakes falling past the window (cleaned especially) while I lounge by a roaring fire with a hot toddy, or a Baileys and ice, or eggnog, or anything alcoholic basically. But, I fear that the relationship snow and I have enjoyed for a lifetime, is hitting the rocks. Yep......counselling we most certainly need if we are to continue harmoniously together. My radiators are drying off baseball boots, I marooned my car in a giant pothole, I had no means to then collect the coal for the romantic fire that would make this white stuff bearable, and I have work at 8am tomorrow, and am most certainly not relishing pulling on fleeced and scarfs and wellies at 7:30.
December, dear snow, is ALL good with me, but March? Piss off. Even The Moo, by trade a snow loving dog, thinks this is a bleeding joke, and would very much like to see the sky and a few green leaves
